ALS

ALS patients often lose their ability to speak or move and they require assistive technology to continue communicating and accessing a computer.  They can lead meaningful and productive lives and regain significant independence when these technologies are implemented correctly.   Most clients require custom hardware/software controlled by voice recognition, head movements, or an eye tracking device.  CSB provides ALS clients with crucial training, support and software customizations in all of these amazing technologies.

  • CSB is one of a few organizations with expertise at setup and training of all major eye tracking devices and software including Tobii Dynavox I-Series, EyeTech Digital EyeOn, and Eyegaze Edge devices. CSB assists in the speech pathology evaluation process and helps the clients making the right choice between the different options.
  • Clients who have a communication device receive training and support from CSB to enable the client to take full advantage of these life-saving machines. As their progression advances, CSB customizes the software to accommodate limited eye movements and chronic dry eye.
  • CSB has an entire library of custom designed communication boards which facilitate communication for even the most severely challenged users. CSB has developed software used to communicate in languages other than English, such as Hebrew and Yiddish – languages not supported by the software supplied by the devices.
  • CSB distributes an entire library of Siddurim, Tehillim, Gemara, Chumash etc. in specially-designed boards for eye tracking devices. These innovations provide our clients with the ability to daven, learn, communicate, control their environment, email, text, browse the internet, make telephone calls, and even speak publicly!
